Rishi Kapoor’s last film, ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ is gearing up for an OTT release. When the veteran actor passed away in April 2020, the project was only half finished. Director Hitesh Bhatia recently revealed that one of the earliest to wrap the film was to rope in Ranbir Kapoor to play the part, using VFX. He told PTI, “It was a journey of Ranbir coming in with prosthetics or VFX, or having another actor (to play the part). It took me a lot of time to come on board with the idea that it is a feasible option that we can do. We had a great responsibility on our shoulders because we knew we are presenting his last film, so we have to do a good job for him, his family and his countless fans. It was a tough job but I am glad everything fell into place.” Eventually Paresh Rawal stepped in to wrap ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. The light hearted entertainer also features Rishi Kapoor’s longtime co-star Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha and Isha Talwar.
Ranbir Kapoor too has a long list of films lined up for release. He will next be seen in sci-fi drama ‘Brahmastra’, which is directed by Ayan Mukerji. Apart from this, Ranbir also has Luv Ranjan’s next with Shraddha Kapoor, ‘Shamshera’ with Vaani Kapoor and ‘Animal’ with Parineeti Chopra.
